Narivetta, directed by Anuraj Manohar, is inspired by real events, notably the 2003 Muthanga incident, and explores themes of tribal resistance, land rights, and systemic oppression. Tovino plays Constable Varghese Peter, a passionate young police officer caught between institutional orders and his moral compass. The film also marks the Malayalam debut of Tamil actor-filmmaker Cheran as DIG Raghuram Keshav, alongside Suraj Venjaramoodu as Head Constable Basheer Ahammed. The ensemble cast includes Aarya Salim, Priyamvada Krishnan, and Rini Udayakumar. The trailer hints at a gripping story of revolution, with the tagline, “When the system betrays, the revolution begins.”
The film’s first single, “Minnalvala,” a romantic track by Jakes Bejoy with vocals by Sid Sriram and Sithara Krishnakumar, was released on April 16, 2025, and received praise for its soulful melody and Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri’s lyrics. Narivetta has a U/A certificate and will release in Malayalam and Tamil, promising a thought-provoking cinematic experience. With Jakes Bejoy’s evocative score, Vijay’s cinematography, and Shameer Muhammed’s editing, the film is set to be a significant addition to Tovino’s diverse filmography.
